Micah Parsons provides fodder for Monday morning quarterback

The good thing about the Cowboys having a bye week?

We don’t have to worry about dissecting a loss.

The bad thing? Trying to figure out what to write about since there isn’t a game to talk about.

Fortunately, Micah Parsons stepped up and teed one up for me to hit out of the park. With an assist from Emmanuel Acho.

Attack Of The Talking Heads

Parsons called out certain members of the media last week and rightfully so.

Acho was the prime target of Parson’s ire. Again, rightfully so.

Acho, along with Stephen A. Smith, like to run their mouths when it comes to a Cowboys’ loss.

But try to find them after a Cowboys’ win?

Yeah, crickets and tumbleweeds.

Acho is a former NFL player – 20 games over two seasons with the Eagles – with 33 tackles to his credit. He has no room to criticize anyone.

As is the case with most of the talking heads on television the players should just ignore them.

They are a plague brought on by ESPN and other sports channels. They need to say outrageous things to get clicks and ratings.

So Micah’s best bet is to tune them out, give them no oxygen, and focus on beating the next opponent.

Trick or Trade

The NFL deadline strikes at 3 p.m. (CDT) on Halloween. There’s been a lot of talk about the Cowboys being buyers this year.

All of the big name players who could be moved have been linked to Dallas.

But will the Cowboys pull the trigger on a deal or stand pat?

Davante Adams was rumored to be on the market. The Raiders squashed those rumors by telling everyone they weren’t moving their star receiver.

Tight end Zach Ertz could be moved from Arizona, and Dallas could use help at the position.

Because Luke Schoonmaker is a bust. There, I said it.

Could the Titans really be looking to move Derrick Henry?

Somehow I doubt it, but he’d be a great addition to the backfield in Dallas.

The Cowboys really need help shoring up their run defense. They need to improve on keeping running quarterbacks in the pocket too.

I just don’t see a defensive tackle or middle linebacker that they could land in a trade.

We’ll see how the next eight days plays out.

Honoring Jimmy

The Miami Hurricanes inducted Jimmy Johnson into their Ring of Honor over the summer.

On Saturday – during Miami’s 28-20 win over Clemson – Johnson was officially honored at the game.

Jimmy Johnson (center) and Michael Irvin (47) led the Miami Dolphins to prominence in the 1980s.

He’s now in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. He’s in the Hurricane’s Ring of Honor.

Yet, somehow, his name is nowhere to be found at AT&T Stadium when you scan the names on the Cowboys’ Ring of Honor.

If Johnson passes away before his name goes up there, Jerry Jones will officially be the greatest villain in the history of Texas.

Governor Abbott will be petitioned to strip Jones of ownership of the team. The ghost of Davy Crockett will ride for Arlington.

C’mon Jerry, put the man up there next to the Triplets where he belongs already.

Speaking Of Bad Takes

Our friend Emmanuel Acho rebounded from his bad take on Micah Parsons with this hot take on Twitter/X on Saturday night.

His golden advice to USC quarterback Caleb Williams now that the Trojans are a two-loss team? Quit playing for the rest of the season.

USC quarterback Caleb Williams.

Acho’s reasoning is that Williams cannot win the Heisman nor will he play for a championship. So just abandon your teammates, he advises.

I can’t think of a single NFL GM that would take Williams in the second round, much less the first, if he follows that advice.

Again, another reason why talking heads on television should be unseen and unheard.

Aubrey continues to be the cream of Dallas’ rookie crop

The 2023 rookie class in Dallas – aside from placekicker Brandon Aubrey – continues to underwhelm this season. While Aubrey was setting a new NFL record on Sunday, Luke Schoonmaker was coming up short in a crucial situation. But at least he got on the stat sheet. Which is more…
