Same ole’ Cowboys: Final chance to flip the script

There is a lot to discuss after the Dallas Cowboys got flat-out embarrassed on Sunday night against the 49ers.

After the first five weeks of the NFL season, the Cowboys are sitting with a 3-2 record.

Dallas still has 12 games left on the schedule, yet, of course, here we are again, wondering how good this team really is.

After the team started with two dominant defensive performances, we all wondered what would happen when the defense had a rough patch and the offense, with Mike McCarthy calling plays, had to show up.

Thus far, the answer is not good.

This new system that big Mike is trying to run will not work.

It is the offense that Aaron Rodgers talked about after MM was fired in Greenbay. He didn’t like it.

Look, the bottom line is Dak Prescott does not look good when he isn’t playing with the lead.

The other part is this new McCarthy offense.

There is no creativity or detail in this scheme.

This “Texas Coast” offense McCarthy is trying to run is Texas TOAST.

The style of the West Coast is nothing but short passes and getting the ball out quickly. Every single deep shot they take seems forced, and it just hasn’t worked yet.

All you have to do is watch the 49ers offense. Do what they do. Move CeeDee Lamb around and allow him to line up at other spots on the field.

As we have seen, unless the team is playing with the lead, it does not work.

Lamb has been held under 55 yards in the last three games.

He needs to do a better job of getting him in a rhythm.

Coaching has to be better all around.

McCarthy, down 14 in the second half facing a 3rd and 4 from the opponent’s 32-yard line, ran a DRAW play for no gain and decided to kick the field goal.

As for this defense, I don’t even know. I think they are still feeling the loss of Trevon Diggs.

Teams are going right at them without Diggs, and it has made a difference.

The pass rush was nowhere to be found Sunday night, and someone tell me why they had Micah Parsons rushing the passer 90% of the time against Trent Williams.

Bad coaching.

Done listening to excuses

Like most folks, I’ve had it with the finger-pointing.

This team is like the bully who picks on the kids on the playground, and then when they get their older brother, they get one or two shots in before they end up black and blue.

On paper, this team is ‘talented’ enough to play with the elite teams in the NFL and yet fail to show up when needed.

It’s only week five, and they still have the Chargers, Bills, Dolphins, Eagles twice, and the Lions on the schedule.

I am not giving up on this team even in the slightest, but I don’t understand how a team with this much talent comes out flat every other week.

All they did was talk about how ready they were for this matchup, and they laid an egg.

This team has 12 games to rewrite this script. It starts next Monday night in SoFi stadium.

Kellen Moore would love nothing more than to beat the team that fired him this offseason.

Does this team want to be great, or will it be the same ole’ Cowboys?

  1. Never thought I’d say this , I’m not watching Dallas again until something changes. This SOS gets old

    • I feel the same way Karen I really do just sick and tired of being sick and tired I’m not waiting anymore either

  2. first the beat down from an 0-2 team then got dismantled by a very organized 49ers. obviously the Cowboys are a dis-functional mess. this is no quick fix by any means as it shows this new Offensive scheme is failing from the get go and the Defense is sloppy on coverage. boys got a lot of work to do with little time to spare to get ready for the next game. and it doesn’t look good.

  3. While watching the game, the boys did play bad on offense, san fran is looking a lot like the Brady led patriots, right down to the no offense line holding calls.

  4. 3 things to be done…
A)Throw out the playbook and start over.
    a little Creativity, maybe?
    B) find a veteran Line backer- today
    C)find a corner back – today

    • …and please, stop talking ‘Super Bowl,’ Jerrah.
We’re the only team that does this. Stop, Fer cryin’ out loud already! I’m sick of it!!

  5. Wondering when Jerry Jones is going to wake-up and realize he has no quarterback or head coach who can and will win jack nothing? McCarthy and Dak need to be shown the door. If I had any say so I would demand Jerry sell the Cowboys. He only cares about collecting our hard earned money for him to continue to be wealthy. Never will he ever care about winning another Super Bowl as long as the fans keep supporting this nonsense? I like many other fans have seen enough and will consider stop watching this embarrassment of a organization. Accepting losing and always saying they need to do better.

  7. We just got out Coached plain and simple! SF had a game plan for both sides of the ball and executed it to perfection!

  8. The only plays this guy can call that are effective are at the dinner table …. Execution seems to his thing at that venue!!
Tom Landry was slim and trim and had a high Football acumen, which is the difference between these two coaches !!

  9. Real Fans are DONE with the Duk! No more cowboys with the clueless ZERO Football IQ Duk. How embarrassing to have such a clueless sort at QB for America’s team. #CutTheDuk NOW!

  10. Hold all your comments hate mail till after season over still lots of football left .12 games before play offs .pray all players stay healthy and safe. Great for us fans to injoy see the best players work in the playing field. As for me. God bless. Go cowboys

  11. McCarthy needs to go I said this year, his play calling really suck and don’t have his players ready for big gametime to go …. I’m said last year the head Coach needs to go….

    • Ken Roberts Hello I hope I don’t bother you, if I’m really sorry, I stumbled across your Facebook profile inattentively, so I like your profile picture very much, so I wanted to send you a friend request, but I’m afraid, since I do don’t know you, I’ll leave this message and if you want to send me a friend request, I’ll be happy to get to know me, thank you

  12. This ain’t the 90s..you have to have to score in the 30s to beat eagles and 49ers..Mccarthy play calling is ancient

  13. Look, this “Texas Coast Offense” was designed to limit QB1’s turnovers. They dumbed down the playbook and focused on short yardage completions and checkdowns to accommodate his lack of talent. His average depth of target this year is a horrible 6.2 yards! Teams notice this strategy and adjust by playing shallow zones, stacking, and blitzing, etc.

QB1 is clearly in decline. Anyone that does not see that is delusional. MM is doing his best with a bottom 10 of the league QB. They got him Cooks, on top of CD and MG. All good to very good WRs. But it never seems to be enough with this guy unfortunately for Cowboy fans.

    • The problem is he isn’t bottom 10 though, we saw this with Kellen Moore and his offense. He had one bad year of INTs, not three of them. MG has not even remotely looked the same since he returned from injury and it’s clear as day he hasn’t.

They aren’t even trying to push the ball down the field and when they do it is forced. Maybe stop having everyone so stagnate, move guys around, it’s a boring offense, the only problem I had with Kellen was that he didn’t run the football when needed. Outside of that he was fine.

      • Then why did they get rid of Moore? He had the offense humming pretty good, right?

Gallup is FINE, it’s the distributer that is not. Even CD is “frustrated”. CeeDee, Cooks and Gallup are a fine trio other teams’ QBs would love to throw to.

QB1 is trending toward the bottom 10 if he is now there now.

Look, the FO has twisted and bent over backward to try and get a good supporting cast to accommodate QB1, but it never seems to be enough. First Dez wasn’t good enough, then Amari wasn’t good enough, now MG isn’t the “same” or good enough. Keep making excuses, great. Well, let’s bring back Jerry Rice, Randy Moss, and Terrel Owens for him.

MG can’t look better b/c of QB1. Prime example, when McCaffery turned the ball over near the goal line, Gallup beat his man down the right sideline and, as usual, QB1 misses him, underthrowing, allowing the defender to close the gap and tip the ball away. Would have been a big gain first down or better. Did you not see that and the other bad passes?

This has been a constant ongoing problem for Gallup. So many overthrown and underthrown balls during his career. He is a MUCH BETTER WR if he had a better QB.

Its apparent what the problem is, even if some, including maybe the FO, wish not to see. Too bad for the fans.

  14. Rich Shinn Hello I hope I don’t bother you, if I’m really sorry, I stumbled across your Facebook profile inattentively, so I like your profile picture very much, so I wanted to send you a friend request, but I’m afraid, since I do don’t know you, I’ll leave this message and if you want to send me a friend request, I’ll be happy to get to know me, thank you

  15. with the continued war of words since game, clearly the 49’ers know dallas is intimidated by them. And with parsons continued responses they may be. I thought we had a team that was ready and understood what winning takes. Maybe game is too physical for our “stars”

  16. I wish they would have kept Moore as the offensive co-ordinator! Another mistake by the Jones! Time for Jerry to retire and hire a GM who is fixated on winning! Maybe then they can hirer a coach like Jim Johnson who can motive players!
