Cowboys wide receiver Michael Gallup signed a five-year $62.5 million dollar extension in March of 2022.
Since then he has been struggling to find his footing again due to his torn ACL he suffered in November of 2021.
I was a big fan of Gallup, always have been, but right now that money looks like it’s going to waste.
On Monday night Gallup had plenty of chances to make his presence felt, but dropped two big passes.
One that would have been a touchdown on a nearly perfect thrown ball by Dak Prescott.
7-point drop by Michael Gallup.

The other was a simple stop route that if he Gallup catches is probably a first down.
I still trust Gallup as one of the Cowboys main pass catchers who can go up and get the ball when needed, but right now I think he is over thinking his recover from injury.
Yes, we all know you are thinking “we should have kept Amari Cooper.” I can’t say that I disagree with you, but he isn’t here anymore and we need to get production from Gallup.
Brandin Cooks finally made his imprint on this offense Monday night. That was nice to see.
Now, if we can get him, Gallup and CeeDee Lamb all on the same page this will be awesome.
Gallup had 10 targets on Monday, but only caught three of them.
What can be done?
You can see they are trying to make sure he is used regularly, but at some point we need to talk about him possibly restructuring his current deal.
He can’t give the team that type of production making that much money.
Only 11 receivers are making more money than Gallup for the 2023 season. This contract is starting to look worse and worse by the game.
I hope I eat my words and Gallup finds himself again. He looks as if he is worried about getting hurt again.
It really might be time to sit Michael Gallup.

It is hard to answer the question of what can be done, but just watching him every week makes me think they need to treat him like the WR3.
Give him 4 or 5 targets a game and hope he catches 90% of them.
If you are going to throw the ball 11 or 12 times to a player, make it Lamb or Cooks.
How about they give Jalen Tolbert more time?
He has looked up to speed when he has seen the field this season, and let’s be honest do we think Tolbert can look ANY worse than Gallup has thus far?
I doubt it.
Michael Gallup looks like he's some guy running around out there who has never played football.

The good news is the Cowboys are 4-2 heading into their bye week. They will follow the bye at home and welcome to Rams to town.
With the Eagles playing the Dolphins this week, the Cowboys next three weeks are huge.
They very well could be sitting in first in the NFC East by week nine.
The offense still needs some work, but they looked better at times than they have the last handful of weeks.
Now it is time to figure out what is going on with Gallup, and they should be okay.
Not as bad as the duks is.
Yep
Drops more than he catches
Horrible resigning
Another Jerry Jones overpaid player. Jerry might be a Billionaire but he is a terrible GM.
Big mistake letting Amari Cooper go. He should have gotten paid instead.
John Anthony Chevaili. He DID get paid. 5yr 100 million + 10 million signing bonus……and then they let Cleveland have him. Or did you forget that?
Steve Preciado true
Steve Preciado it’s sad they let him go.
John Anthony Chevaili Agreed. More like frustrating
John Anthony Chevaili if you’re watching the Browns and Amari play today you’d see why 2 teams including dallas let him go. He disappears in games and doesn’t always create separation. He also dropped passes. Not your primary go to receiver in this game.
As much as I like Gallup and rooting for him I still say we should’ve kept cooper
As much as I like Gallup and rooting for him I still say we should’ve kept cooper..
Having Dak as the QB doesn’t help.
I I never liked the contract in the first place,
They could have easily called PI on that “TD” drop by Gallup. He was CLEARLY HELD, as the defender pulled his jersey and changed his route. Also, may have had his vision obstructed by the guy. Last year I remember CD dropping WIDE OPEN passes. It happens to ALL WRs. On the other hand, DP misses him a lot.
Thank Jerry Jones for that.
