2023 Cowboys off 2022 pace #ffb

Since the Cowboys were on a bye last week there aren’t any numbers to post for Week 7 of fantasy football.

So why not compare where the 2023 Cowboys are in relation to the 2022 team at this point of the season?

Using my league’s PPR scoring system as a guide, with six games played in 2023, it’s a mixed bag.

The defense is slightly ahead of the pace at 133.60 compared to last year’s 120.10.

Brandon Aubrey has 66 points through six games. The man he replaced, Brett Maher, was at 61 after six games last year.

Offense Is Behind 2022’s Pace

Jake Ferguson has just under 40 points this year compared to only 17 last year. Dalton Schultz, last year’s starting tight end, was at 13.5.

Thanks to a great game in Week 6, CeeDee Lamb is at 97 points compared to 80.45 last year at this time.

Michael Gallup is ahead of last year, 34.25 to 20.75. Brandin Cooks had 47.25 with Houston after six games and has just 27.25 this year.

Tony Pollard has 95.20 points, well ahead of his 63.35 last year. But Ezekiel Elliott had 78 points through six games last year.

Overall, the running back room is behind pace.

Dak Prescott missed five of the first six games in 2022 and only had 9.20 on opening night. Cooper Rush had 89.85 in his absence.

Prescott has 130.45 this year in six games.

In 2021, after six games, Prescott had 209 points.

Trade Court Is Back In Session

The judge is back from his fishing trip. The marlin he caught put up more of a fight than the Dolphins did on Sunday night.

Bailiff Bubba J. Bonecrusher saw whatever that was that Taylor Swift and Brittany Mahomes did in the press box.

He couldn’t shake it off and told Ms. Swift he was quitting as her bodyguard by saying “we are never ever getting back together.”

The judge told him he “should have said no” in the first place. But the Bailiff is back sporting a nice cardigan, so bring on the next case.

(We’ll see how many Taylor Swift fans read these posts and saw what I did there.)

This week’s case was mined from Twitter/X. It is from a dynasty league but the owner wants to make a move to improve a title run now.

He already has Patrick Mahomes and Derek Carr on his roster.

He wants to trade Nick Chubb and a third rounder next year for Raheem Mostert and Gardner Minshew.

Gardner Minshew.

Quite frankly the judge was on board before Minshew turned into the AFC’s Jalen Hurts on Sunday.

This is the kind of move you make if you want to win championships – in the real NFL and in fantasy football.

If you have a trade you’re considering, or if there’s been a trade in your league that has you seeing red, let me know about it.

Easy as 1-2-3

Patrick Mahomes was the top scoring quarterback in fantasy football last week.

A.J. Brown was the top wide receiver and Travis Kelce the top tight end.

Why do we care, you ask? Guess who has all three players on his fantasy football roster?

Yeah, this guy.

And Scribe’s Penman have reclaimed first place in the division thanks to a four-game winning streak.

They are also the league’s top scoring team by a large margin.

It is looking so much better at the halfway point of the season than it did after Week 3. My other two teams?

Is it possible to have a priest perform an exorcism and give last rites at the same time?

I hope you all have a great week of fantasy football this weekend.

The Records:

  • Scribe’s Penmen 4-4
  • Grim Reapers 2-5
  • Pigskin Fiction 1-7

All-Time regular season record (since 1989 – and yes, I keep track of such things): 615-492-7 (.555).

I’ve got 26 division titles and 12 league championships under my belt. What? You think I only religiously keep track of records for the Cowboys?

Which player has become the Cowboys’ biggest issue?

Now that I’ve had time to regroup from the loss against the Eagles on Sunday, one player remains a significant issue for this Cowboys team. Terence Steele. The starter signed an $86.8 million extension in September of this year. Through the first eight weeks, he has been one of the…

Aubrey continues to be the cream of Dallas’ rookie crop

The 2023 rookie class in Dallas – aside from placekicker Brandon Aubrey – continues to underwhelm this season. While Aubrey was setting a new NFL record on Sunday, Luke Schoonmaker was coming up short in a crucial situation. But at least he got on the stat sheet. Which is more…

How this strong offensive unit is set to take center stage

Famous Author Ronald Wright stated, “Each time history repeats itself, the price goes up.” That has to be the case for the Dallas Cowboys. Last season, in week 6, Dallas played the Philadelphia close with Cooper Rush at the helm. If memory serves me, that ballgame ended with a score…

DAL at PHI: 6 plays that altered the outcome of the game

The Dallas Cowboys went into Philadelphia on Sunday, and played a hard fought game where they came up just short. Philadelphia squeaked by Dallas 28-23, and needed a defensive stand at the end of the game to keep the Cowboys from scoring the game winning touchdown. There were several big…
